This is our Texas snowman, complete with boots and a cowboy hat! Everyone had a ball making and admiring him.

Unexpected Visit

On our way to Kentucky, we got a call from Serita's dad, Walter, letting us know that he was in Mississippi for a few days. We were about to stop and spend the night there so we made plans to meet him for breakfast the next morning! This was his first time to get to see Wil. The kids were excited to see their Papaw and had a good time playing and talking with him. Wil was also very intrigued with him (and his glasses!)

Gracie's 4th Birthday Party

Gracie celebrated her Fourth birthday at our house with Grandpa Kurt, Grandma Debbie, The Haddoxes and the Alfreds. The kids decorated their own cupcakes (even Grandma did one!) and we had some pretty neat looking finished products. Gracie got new cowgirl boots, a pink guitar, money, clothes, and a butterfly garden! We finished off her special day with a trip to the Pasadena Rodeo. She had a great time!

Walk on the Lake Charles Beach

On the ride back from picking up the family from Mississippi we stopped to take a rest and stretch our legs. The kiddos had a chance to run, wade the water, and see their first wild alligator from about 2 feet away.

Visiting Mississippi

During Hurricane Ike Serita and the kids had the chance to spend some much needed time with family in Mississippi. It was a whirlwind trip, but I think we got to see everyone while we were there including getting to spend the whole afternoon with my little sister Vivian! (she's in the picture with Hank and the donkey)

Visiting Uncle Parkie

In the midst of fleeing from Ike we were able to spend some very special time with my uncle Parkie in Shreveport, LA. Parkie and his wife Fran were such a blessing to our family for their hospitality and love. The kids had such a great time there and added Parkie and Fran to their long list of grandparents!

Day of Blessing!

Last Friday was such a wonderful day filled with all kinds of fun. Ma called about mid-morning and asked if she could come by and visit and see the new apartment. Of course we said "YES!" (and commenced to cleaning like whirlwinds!) The kids were super excited that Ma was coming to visit and couldn't wait for her to get her. They kept wanting to call her and look out the window for her. When she finally arrived, she had all kinds of surprises with her. On top of a yummy lunch from our all-time-family-favorite: Chik-fil-A, she had her suburban full of goodies! She was going to help me with a bathroom decorating project, but she also brought several wonderful decorative pieces, including a beautiful old dresser, to grace our home with. We spent the day rearranging and decorating and had a ball! God has been so gracious to put such special people in our lives! (and our house is so much cuter now so please feel free to come and visit anytime!)

Daddy's birthday a Grandpa Kurts

Man what a good day for family, friends, celebration, and LOW HUMIDITY. Today was absolutely beautiful! The family started out with lunch at Raisin Canes, then to the Bass Pro Shop to get an early gift with my gift cards, to which I got a nice hunting, camping, everyday watch. We then, headed to clear Lake to see the Upps and their newest addition Lucas Maximus. Lucas' middle name isn't really Maximus, but doesn't that sound like the name of a great warrior . After some much needed time with the Upps, we jumped over to Friendswood to visit Grandpa and Grandma. Kurt smoked a chicken and made me a homemade, from scratch chocolate mousse cake. Today was a good day!
